How are white semi-dry wines made ?

They can be made from both red and white grapes, because white wines are fermented without skins. During the fermentation process, the sugar and yeast from the grape pulp turn into alcohol, and the amount of residual (lees) sugar that remains after the fermentation process determines whether the wine will be semi-dry.

The standard accepted norms are between 4 and 12 g/l, but it is important to remember that many countries have their own standards allowing higher or lower sugar content. A good example is Italian semi-dry primitivo, which can reach as much as 18 grams per liter.

What does semi-dry white wine taste like?

It is characterized by a subtle and refreshing taste and a pleasant fruitiness and sweetness. It is a very good alternative for people who are starting out and are afraid of heavy dry wines, but are also not fans of very sweet flavors. Semi-dry white wine is also a good start for reaching for dry offerings in the future.

There is no region that specializes in the production of semi-dry white wines, however, it is important to remember that they are made all over the world. Among the popular varietals, two deserve mention: Chardonnay and Riesling, which produce interesting white semi-dry wines, full of aromas and depth perceptible on the palate.

How to know good white semi-dry wines?

First of all, we should remember that the sweetness of such a wine should not be intrusive and well balanced with acidity. In the offer presented on Winezja.pl you will find white semi-dry wines from Chile, Georgia, Germany, Portugal, USA, Italy and Spain. What's more, you can easily find a good bottle of white semi-dry wine up to 35 zloty, which will impress with its subtlety and lower acidity enriched with a hint of sweetness.

With what to serve white semi-dry wines?

It goes perfectly with spicy Asian cuisine. They will also work well with seafood (such as shrimp), fish, poultry, pork and cold-served appetizers. A bottle of semi-dry white wine can also be an interesting complement to a dessert or served as an aperitif will allow you to emphasize the taste of subsequent dishes. It is important that the wine be properly chilled.
