What kind of wine for a connoisseur?

A wine connoisseur is not necessarily a sommelier. He is a person who is interested in wine, but not necessarily professionally. It is enough if he drinks it for pleasure, experiments, tries new flavors and, for example, pairs it with food. Nevertheless, it is used to think that such people have a highly sophisticated taste. There is still a lingering conviction that connoisseur wines are always high-end liquors. And yet these are ordinary people, with different tastes. It may turn out that they like what most of us like. One connoisseur will prefer white wines, another red, another rose wine. So will Primitivo or Cabernet Savignon be a good wine for a connoisseur? Not unlikely.

For a gift

If we need to choose a bottle for a gift for wine connoisseurs, let's look for something less common than Primitivo or Prosecco. We want the gift to be successful, but also to create a WOW effect. If we throw the phrase: wines for connoisseurs into an Internet search engine, we will get many specific suggestions. Mainly, these will be wines from France, Spain, Italy, but also from Newvat. Our experts also praise them. These are bottles that usually rank high in wine competitions and come from the best plots, from different regions and with different flavors. This way, everyone will be able to find something tried and tested, without having to think longer about what wine for the connoisseur will be suitable.

Wines for longer aging

Customers often ask us about gift wines that can wait to be opened for special occasions. For wine connoisseurs, such a choice is also a good option. So naturally we reached for Porto. Fortified wines can be stored for many years. In addition, they captivate with wonderful aromas of red fruits, spices or chocolate. They have a higher alcohol content and enjoy a pleasant sweetness and an elegant label. These are typical wines with great aging potential. Not only can it wait to be opened, but with proper storage, in a few years it can change its flavor, mellow and also acquire additional aromas.

Bubbles are always a good gift

If you don't know what wine to choose for a gift, champagne is always a good option. It is one of the more elegant wines that works well as a gift. It is certainly a wine for the connoisseur. Champagne is the most noble and expensive bubbly, and it is influenced by many factors. In its production, only manual harvesting of grapes is allowed, the bubbles are created naturally by re-fermentation in the bottle, and in some Champagne houses the tradition of turning the bottles by hand has been preserved. This is done so that the sediment moves toward the neck of the bottle and eventually gets rid of it. It's painstaking work by one person, who turns each bottle exactly 45 degrees every day.

Chardonnay for the connoisseur

Of the white wines, Chablis is often mentioned as a wine suggestion for the connoisseur. It is created in Burgundy from the most popular white grape variety - Chardonnay. In addition to fruity accents, Chablis also has mineral notes, that is, as if with an added scent of earth or wet stone. A good choice would be, for example, Drouhin Domaine de Vaudon Chablis A.O.C. The wine is produced by a winery that belongs to the Primum Familiae Vini association. It is made up of just eleven top wine families from around the world. It even sounds like a good wine for the connoisseur already.
