Taste of brandyBrandy brandy

is distinguished from many other distillates by its subtle sweetness and pronounced fruit flavor. Many are aged in barrels, which further tones down the tangy character of the liquor and imparts a light barrel aftertaste. Types of brandy

The most popular brandy varieties are distillates from the Cognac and Armagnac regions of France. The above names are legally regulated and reserved only for brandies from these appellations, so the rule of thumb is that "every cognac and armagnac is a brandy, but not every brandy is cognac or armagnac." Quality-wise and prestige-wise, they are considered the crème de la crème of grape distillates.

Good brandies from Spanish Andalusia, often referred to as "brandy de Jerez," are also extremely impressive. A distinctive feature of the production of these distillates is the use of the solera system, which involves blending younger alcohol with that aged longer by means of stacked rows of barrels. Brandy de Jerez can surprise with a very intense aroma and more sweetness than this type of liquor from other regions.

Italians call their brandy grappa. Distilled from grape marc, such as skins, seeds and stalks left over from winemaking, it comes in both unaged and aged versions. In the latter case, liquors created from the residue of an outstanding Italian wine from the Veneto area, Amarone, are very popular.

In the southern part of America, on the other hand, we find a brandy called Pisco. Depending on the grapes used, we can find the distillate in several styles, called pisco puro, pisco aromatico, pisco acholado and pisco mosto verde

.Brandy agingBottles

of brandy contain special markings, informing about the length of aging of the distillate in oak barrels. Some of them inform about the time directly, by stating the maturation time, sometimes also symbolizing it with the number of stars on the label. However, many countries use universal terms, which are worth knowing to correctly identify the quality of the liquor.

A.C. - two-year barrel maturation
V.S. - aged three years in barrel
V.S.O.P. - five-year barrel maturation
X.O. - six years of maturation in barrel
Hors D'Age - extremely old liquors with indefinite maturation time.

With what to drink brandy?

Due to its rich aromatic profile and high sweetness, a good brandy like few other distillates is ideal for tasting on its own. In particular, a brandy aged longer in the barrel, enjoying a complex structure and rich bouquet, will be an extraordinary tasting experience. For the best and full extraction of the aroma, such a distillate is best served at room temperature. The distinctive flavor of the liquor will also have a significant and unique impact on the taste of our favorite cocktails

.Brandy for every occasionWhat

distinguishes a good brandy is the price, which compares very attractively with other distillates. At the same time, its mild flavor and rich bouquet make it easy and pleasant to taste, and the prestige that accompanies this liquor makes it an excellent choice for a gift.

The top brandy brands featured on the Winezja.pl website include the excellent Duque De Veragua Solera Reserva Brandy de Jerez or the Bulgarian Pliska, which enjoys recognition in Europe and around the world.
