Flavored vodkas are a type of vodka that, in the process of production, gain a fruity taste, so different from traditional pure vodka. The most popular vodka flavors and the ones most often chosen by consumers include lemon vodka, or lemonade, but also nut vodka, strawberry vodka, quince vodka or plum vodka.

For whom are flavored vodkas?

Flavored vodkas work well as a classic complement to snacks, but also as an accompaniment to coffee, dessert or an ingredient in a drink. Flavored vodka can also be served as a digestif to stimulate digestion or solo, without any accompaniment to discover its depth and flavor.

Flavored vodkas will work well for men and women. They can be used to compose drinks or consumed without adding juice or flavored syrup.

How is quality vodka made?

Flavoredvodka is usually obtained from rectified spirit, water, plant extracts, aroma oils and sugar. The production process for flavored vodka, just as with pure vodka, begins at the distillery, where a mash is fermented in column distillers. The mash, in turn, is nothing more than a mixture of sugar, water and yeast. As a result of its fermentation process, a so-called surva is obtained, a solution with a concentration of about 8% alcohol.

The next stage is distillation until 85-90% strength is achieved, and rectification to remove unpleasant taste and odor. This produces a rectified spirit of 95% strength, which, in the case of flavored vodkas, is diluted with water in the appropriate proportions, to obtain between 37.5 and 80% alcohol content in the liquor. Flavored vodkas are flavored with fruits or herbs, and fruit, grain or wine spirits are used in the production process. Sometimes flavored vodkas are combined with liquors or distillates.

Good flavored vodkas

Flavored vodkas can be sweet, semi-sweet, dry or semi-dry. Among good flavored vodkas you can find those distinguished by a distinct aroma of citrus fruits, exotic fruits as well as raspberries, blackberries or herbs and spices. However, the division of quality vodkas does not end there. The basic classification is the division into ordinary quality vodkas, obtained from fruit and herbal rectified distillates, natural vodkas, obtained from non-rectified distillates, and moonshine, obtained from distilled and non-rectified spirits.

In addition, due to the amount of extract per 1L, we distinguish dry flavored vodkas, which contain up to 50g of extract per 1L, and similarly: semi-dry from 51g to 120g , semi-sweet from 121g to 220g, sweet from 221g to 330g, and liqueurs and creams above 331g per 1L. In the offer of the stores presented at Winezja, flavored vodka J.A. Baczewski particularly appealed to customers. One can choose from apricot liqueur, orange liqueur and blackberry liqueur. They delight with their intense fruit flavor and strong structure.

Premium flavored vodka - at what temperature to serve flavored vodkas?

The quality of premium and super-premium vodka is usually determined by how many times it has been distilled and filtered. However, in the very perception of it during consumption, how it is served is very important. The basic rule that is usually mentioned first is the temperature of the vodka. Good flavored vodka should be neither too chilled nor too warm.

Freezing vodka in the freezer can result in a chill being felt on the tongue instead of flavor during tasting. On the other hand, too high a temperature changes the aroma and taste of the vodka itself. For flavored vodkas, the optimal temperature is reported to be between 10 and 15 degrees Celsius. This allows you to enjoy the full spectrum of its aroma and taste qualities.

How to serve flavored liquor?

In addition to maintaining the right temperature of the liquor, it is also worth focusing on what glass it will be served in. Due to the fact that vodka is usually drunk all at once, small glasses with or without legs are suggested. Depending on the level of dryness of the flavored vodka, the good, most dry ones are usually served in slender, straight glasses or slightly upward-sloping glasses. Sweeter ones are usually served in glasses resembling the shape of a tulip, because they concentrate the aromas better.
