What wine goes well with venison?

When choosing the perfect wine for venison, we need to evaluate the texture and intensity of the meat, the amount of seasoning and the richness of the sauce that ties the dish into a cohesive whole. After all, the richer the sauce, the more complex the wine we will need.

Venison is usually a lean meat, so we do not need to overdo it with a lot of tannins in the chosen bottle. The wine should have the right harmony between tannins, a touch of acidity and aromatic character. Such a choice should pass the test in most universal situations. A new-world shiraz or Spanish monastrell might be a good option. A South African pinotage or Italian nero d'avola will also help to enrich the multifaceted light flavor. For a plate with a dish with a fatter character, on the other hand, it is worth reaching for a Rioja or a classic cabernet sauvignon. To enrich complex, long-cooked dishes, on the other hand, a suitable partner in the glass will turn out to be a bottle of good Bordeaux, combining maturity, intensity and juicy fruitiness.

A plate of game with spicy vegetables and spices is also a remarkable combination. An extremely satisfying wine in such a situation may turn out to be a negroamaro from Puglia, which combines a dense, essential structure with spicy aromas and hints of forest fruits.

Due to the rather delicate structure of meat in the form of venison, we also need not be afraid to choose a white wine. However, it is worth ensuring that the body and aromas in the glass are sufficiently structured to lift the complexity of the meal. A ripe riesling, a rounded viognier or a barrel-aged chardonnay are directions that should satisfy the guests at the table during a feast rich in game-based dishes

.What wine for a game marinade will enrich the taste?

The choice of wine for a marinade is not overly complicated. Above all, it is worth taking care of a dry red wine that you like, which will not be overly expressive. The good quality of each ingredient affects the final result, so it is worth reaching for a bottle you are sure of. A bit of classic merlot or grenache should pass this test perfectly. In addition, the wine that remains in the bottle can also be used for tasting to stimulate the taste buds before the actual main course and the wine matched to it.
