Description Sul Tinto

Sul Tinto is a dry red table wine from sunny Portugal, in the Alentejo region. Literally called "the land beyond the Tagus" (the Tagus is the longest river on the Iberian Peninsula), the region covers one-third of the entire area of Portugal. The Alentejo is mostly lowland, with the exception of the São Mamede Mountains in the northeastern part of the area. It is worth mentioning that it is the warmest region in Portugal (it is very hot and dry there). The land is divided into 8 different sub-zones, including Borba, Évora, Granja-Amareleja, Moura, Portalegre, Redondo, Reguengos and Vidigueira. In terms of winemaking, it is mainly famous for producing red, easy-drinking wines created from local varietals. Sul Tinto is a coupage of as many as three local wine varietals: Aragonez, Alicante Bouschet and Touriga Nacional (the most famous and popular local varietal in Portugal

Flavors and aromas of Sul Tinto

Sul Tinto is full-bodied, fresh and versatile, intended for casual tasting. It is characterized by dryness in flavor and full-bodied aromas of fresh, dark, sweet fruits - a delight for the palate. The predominant flavor is primarily stone cherry, with a distinct accent of black currant and plum. You can also smell blackberries and a hint of raspberries. This dry offering is a liquor that is light and balanced in taste. It has good acidity and a fairly long finish.

Pairing Sul Tinto wine with food

Sul Tinto gives pleasure and delights with good balance in taste. These qualities also manifest themselves in pairing with food. Sul Tinto wine can be served with appetizers consisting of cured meats or hard cheeses, among others. It will also be a good accompaniment to meat dishes, not too heavy pasta with tomato sauce, or even poultry dishes. It also goes well with tender venison, goose or duck. It will also work well drunk solo, due to its mildness and freshness. Sul Tinto is a revelation for every day, for dinner, or for a casual gathering with friends who enjoy red spirits.
