Garnacha is variously called Garnacha in Spain, Garnatxa in Catalonia, and Cannonau in Italy and Alicante in Tuscany. Grenache is still grown in Australia, Argentina and California. This varietal can often be found in couplings: in France and Australia with Syrah and Mourvedre, or in Spain with Tempranilo. Sometimes you can find the related white variety "Grenache Blanc", which can be found in Rioja and Chateauneuf-Du-Pape wines

.ClimateThe grapes

of the Grenache variety have thin skins, making it easy to make rosé wine, and the best examples are Tavel and Lirac wines. This variety likes hot climates, but it should be strongly controlled in terms of yields to avoid giving flat and sexless wines. Grenache wines are often pale, but with a fairly high alcohol level, and slightly spicy and sweet in taste

.Aromas in the grapeGarnacha

, depending on the climate, will change its aromas. In cool climates, the wines will be flinty, crisp, full-bodied, delicate, fruity and spicy, you can smell strawberry, raspberry, cherry and spice. In warm climates, on the other hand, they will be dense, dank, rich, aromatic and jammy. Other aromas such as raspberry, smoked plum, leather and sweet spices are already emerging. And in the glass we will see a purple and ruby color and full and heavy tears, which are indicative of the high alcohol content

.Pairing wine with foodThe sp

ice notes of Grenache will pair well with dishes that like to be well seasoned, such as roasted meat, grilled vegetables, but also can be served with dishes with tomato sauces . If it is used in a coupage in pink wines it will perfectly accompany light dishes with white meat. It will also certainly go well with spicy dishes and Asian cuisine.
