Wine Sassicaia' Bolghieri D.O.C..

It can be said that this wine needs no special description. It is a classic and a "living legend." Sassicaia as a so-called "supertoscan" is a roundness and magnificent structure in itself. An outstanding bottle coming from Tuscany, it is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, and the whole is complemented by Cabernet Franc. Sassicaia is a showcase of Italy.

"The first grapes were harvested on September 10 under ideal conditions, with yields slightly below average. As usual at Tenuta San Guido, the Sassicaia fruit was gently crushed and fermented in stainless steel using natural yeasts. After malolactic fermentation, the wine spent two years in French oak before bottling. This is certainly an exceptional Sassicaia, with a splendor of ripe, creamy black and red fruits with notes of cedar and spice. The color is by no means dark (as is often the case with Sassicaia), and on the palate we feel an impression of power, backed by wonderful sweetness and elegance. A wine with real authority, starting with an attack of black currant and ripe cherry, followed by cigar box and leather notes and a long finish with bay leaf and mineral spiciness. It has a deceptive structure, the tannins wonderfully ripe and creamy with a fine texture. Juicy acidity suggests that the wine has a very long life ahead of it. The 2015 vintage presents everything you expect from Sassicaia - and more - with its combination of wine savoir-faire, world-class terroir, old vines and exceptional vintage. Tenuta San Guido Winery

Tenuta San Guido is much better known by the name of its most famous wine - Sassicaia. It is located in Tuscany's Maremma region and has its own DOC appellation (Bolgheri Sassicaia) on its flagship label.

Sassicaia, one of the original super Tuscan wines, consists of Cabernet Sauvignon with a small amount of Cabernet Franc. It is known for its soft texture, elegance and perfume.

The grapes that go into Sassicaia are harvested just before they reach full maturity, which contributes to finesse and aroma, as well as lower alcohol levels. After a two-week fermentation in stainless steel vats, the wine is aged for about 24 months in French oak barrels (about 20% of which are new).

Tenuta San Guido also produces Guidalberto and Le Difese from declassified fruit from Sassicaia and other vineyards. These two wines are classified as IGT Toscana. Guidalberto is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon - Merlot and Le Difese Cabernet Sauvignon - Sangiovese, with the portion aged in American oak.
