Description Marques de Borba Alentejo D.O.C. Tinto

Marques de Borba Alentejo wine comes from the Alentejo region of Portugal. The region was once famous for growing grains, while it is now a leader in wine production. The wine was created from varietals such as Aragonez (known in Spain as Tempranillo) and Trincadeira or Malvasia.

The

Marques de Borba wine was aged for 6 months in American and French oak barrels.

Marques de Borba flavor and aroma profile

Marques de Bor ba wine is dark red in color. Fruits such as black currant, plum and a hint of dark chocolate come through in the aromas. When tasting Marques de Borba wine, fresh fruitiness, soft tannins and not too high acidity and good concentration emerge on the palate. Marques de Borba wine is quite easy to enjoy.

Pairing with food - what to serve Marquês de Borba with

We can serve Marquês de Borba Alentejo wine with various pork dishes such as goulash and various types of sausages and cold cuts, which often reign on the Polish table. It will also work well during the barbecue season. Keep in mind, however, that red wine likes to breathe. You can also let it age for a few months in good conditions in the cellar.

Marques de Borba wine reviews

Grandes Escolhas - Vintage: 2017 - Rated 18/20.

"Concentrated and deep aroma, with excellent dialogue between the different varieties that make up the whole. Ripe fruit, good balsamic notes, very good combination with barrel. In the mouth it brings us a fresh, vibrant red with very good commitment, where the black fruits combine well with light peppery notes, it has a long and very tasty finish."

Wine Enthusiast - Vintage: 2018 - Rating: 88/100

"Six different grapes enter this master class in Portuguese blending. The result is a fresh, juicy wine that has structure, lots of red fruit and tangy acidity." - Roger Voss

Alentejo region

Alentejo is a famous and respected wine region in eastern Portugal. This hot and dry area covers about a third of the country and is best known for its red wines under the Alentejo DOC (Denominacao de Origem Controlada) designation. Wines from the Alentejo region are typically made from Aragonez (Tempranillo), Castelao, Trincadeira or a rich and ripe blend of the three. Antao Vaz is a white variety that provides a good level of acidity and tropical fruit flavors.

Producer Joao Portugal Ramos

Joao Portugal Ram os was born into a family with a long winemaking tradition. He earned a degree in agronomy from El Instituto Superior de Agronomia in 1977 and began his career as an oenologist between 1977 and 1978. Over the decades, he convinced winemakers to use modern technology, emphasizing low yields, occasional oak aging and preserving natural flavors. In 1990, he opened the Vila Santa winery in Alentejo and began producing his own wines. The shale and lime-clay soil, combined with the region's continental climate, create ideal conditions for growing grapes.

The wines have been critically acclaimed, and the latest project is a crisp, fruity Vinho Verde called Loureiro. Joao Portugal Ramos has played a significant role in the development of Portugal's best-known wines. These successes have earned him many accolades and national and international recognition.

Celebrities opinion (1)
