Badia a Passignano is a completely exceptional quality Chianti Classico in Riserva version (this means longer maturation in oak barrels). 100% Sangiovese means 100% character of the wine from Tuscany. The production process is long, the wine first goes to 15 months of small oak barriques (225 liters), and then spends 15 months in bottles. In this way it is characterized by exceptional harmony and elegance. It is among the top of all Chianti Classico Riserva in the entire region. This is an Italian wine that you need to know.

Marchesi Antinori Vineyard

Antinori is a wine company based in Tuscany that is one of the largest and best known in Italy. Its main business is in the Chianti Classico region, although the company has interests in various countries and produces some 20 million bottles a year on 150 labels.

The house's history dates back to the 14th century, after silk weavers moved to Florence and began cultivating vines. In 1900, Antinori added the Tignanello vineyard to his portfolio, and Niccolò Antinori and his son Piero began experimenting with then-unprecedented winemaking techniques and grape varieties. The first vintage of Tignanello was released in 1971.

The abbey of Badia a Passignano in Sambuca Val di Pesa has been the site of vineyards for at least 1,000 years and has 56 hectares (140 acres) planted mainly in Sangiovese with a little planting of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. It produces one wine classified as Chianti Classico Gran Selezione. The Pèppoli vineyard is located three miles northeast of Tignanello and has 50 hectares (124 acres) of vines.
