Which wine is semi-sweet? How to check it?

The taste of the wine does not have to be on the label, although some producers clearly indicate it. Medium sweet or semi sweet should raise no doubt that it is a semi-sweet wine. However, such indications are not always on bottles. Other terms for this wine include: Moelleux, Semidolce, Semidulce. More sophisticated consumers can look for information on the label about the amount of sugar in the wine. When there is between 13 and 45 g/l of it, you can talk about semi-sweet wine. A slightly different level is contained in sparkling wines. Then values from 32 to 50 g/l indicate a semi-sweet taste. The easiest way is to ask a store advisor for help in finding such a wine.

What are the characteristics of semi-sweet wines?

Semi-sweet wines are distinguished by a fairly universal taste. No one will be surprised in it either excessive sweetness or excessive acidity. This makes it "safe" and easy to drink. In addition to its delicate sweetness, it also has mostly many fruity accents. These vary, depending on the grape variety used. It is because of these compositions that the wines are so well liked.

What budget to prepare for with semi-sweet wine?

Prices of semi-sweet wines are usually not high, expensive bottles in this category are exceptions. The budget you should spend on them usually does not exceed 50 PLN. At such a price you can already get a very good semi-sweet wine.

Where are

semi-sweet wines made? Semi-sweet wines are produced all over the world, regardless of region or climate. However, there are places that are immediately associated with them. These are, for example, the wine offerings of Georgia. Semi-sweet wines used to be produced there on a mass scale for export. They were rather simple and not of very high quality. Fortunately, not much has survived from those days. Today, semi-sweet wines from Georgia win numerous awards at international wine competitions. Their delicately sweet taste is most often given by grape varieties such as Saperavi - in red wines and Rkatstiteli - in whites. Another country that can similarly be associated with semi-sweet wines is Germany. Their Rieslings come in a variety of flavors. Kendermanns Riesling Spätlese is an example of a slightly sweet wine. The grapes used in its production were harvested a little later than usual and were thus sweeter. Georgia and Germany are just two wine countries that offer semi-sweet wines, and they are produced virtually everywhere. You can get them in France, Italy, Portugal or Spain, among others.

What to drink sem

i-sweet wines with? Semi-sweet wines are usually delicate and fruity. They are perfect to sip them solo. However, if you care to serve them with food, dishes should be based on light and sweet ingredients. The ideal combination would be fruit-based desserts, such as cold cheesecake with strawberries or rhubarb cake. In summer, it is best to drink it accompanied by fresh fruit.

When to reach for semi-sweet wine?

Such wine is ideal to sip on a daily basis, but can also be a sensational gift. For example, the white Spanish Baron de Ley Rioja Semidulce offers a mild taste of fruit: pineapple, pear and apple. It is delicately sweet and elegant, and this guarantees a sure choice for a gift. So does its red counterpart from Georgia - Pirosmani. This is also an excellent example of a good semi-sweet wine for a gift. Still another sweet gift would be bubbly and Señorío De Orgaz Semi Seco. After all, sparkling wines best highlight important moments.
