Conte di Campiano, or Count Campiano, is an Italian wine brand owned by the Contri Spumanti company. There are two stories of its founding - according to the first, the founder of the brand is Luciano Contri, who took his grandfather's many years of winemaking experience and in 1980 founded the company, which today has become a major player in the international arena.

According to the other, one day a count walking on the picturesque Monte Crocetta plateau decided to rest under a tree growing on it. When he noticed the beautiful landscape that surrounded him, he decided to establish a vineyard at that spot, and from then on it was known as Conte di Campiano.

What kind of wine does Conte di Campiano produce?

In Conte di Campiano's range you will find a cross-section of typical varieties of Puglia and southern Italy - Primitivo di Manduria, appassimento, Negroamaro or Zinfandel. All with a very ripe, bold character. Of these, two types of wine are the most popular:

The famous Conte di Campiano wines

The primacy of popularity is naturally led by Primitivo. A grape with an amazing aroma, very rich and fruity. In the glass we find notes of cherry jam, very ripe dark fruits and nuances of spices. Thanks to the elevated alcohol level, the wine will be powerful on the palate, while silky tannins give it elegance. Conte di Campiano Primitivo di Manduria will go well with Italian cuisine - pizza, pasta, red meat and mature cheeses are the perfect pairing for these wines

No less interesting, though slightly less popular, is the wine produced by the appassimento method. This method can be described as drying the grapes so that they concentrate their flavor and aroma. Wine made from such raisins, becomes more essential, sweeter and has a more nuanced aromatic profile. Conte di Campiano Appassimento is a wine with full-bodied, powerful aromas of cooked plums, red fruits, chocolate, nutmeg or even licorice.

Conte di Campiano wine pairs well with red meat, mature cheeses and even game, but it also works well solo as a meditative wine.
