It is also worth noting that this grape is significantly different from the grape known as Bonarda Piemontese, which is responsible for wines with a profile somewhat reminiscent of Piedmontese dolcetto. Interestingly, Bonarda is also planted in the French Jura region, where it is found under the name Corbeau

.Character of Bonarda wineThe standard

color in a glass of Bonarda is ruby with reflections of purple. Among the dominant aromas are notes of cherries, plums, figs, cardamom, as well as some floral, violet accents. In the case of barrel-aged wine, there are additionally sweet notes of vanilla, chocolate and cigar box.

On the palate, pleasant acidity with elegant tannins and expressive fruitiness are able to create a wine profile that is truly complex and intriguing, making it also a versatile choice when pairing with a meal. For Bonarda is a wine that goes well with all kinds of meats. It will go perfectly with chicken, pork, beef or even tuna steak.
