Whisky Tomatin French Collection Sauternes Edition Single Malt Whisky 2008

An exceptional distillate from Tomatina, a Single Malt whisky from the Highland region of Scotland. Matured for 12 years and finished in casks of the famous sweet wine from France, from the Sauternes appellation located in the legendary Bordeaux wine region. A limited edition containing a 46% strength distillate.

Tomatin Sauternes Edition is an unusual bouquet rich in aromas of peaches, pears with hints of honey. It is complemented by notes of coconut, ginger and peaches in syrup on the finish. The round structure with pronounced fruitiness and sweetness on the palette make this whisky extremely pleasant and light tasting.

Tomatin Distillery

The formal Tomatin distillery was founded and has been in operation since 1897, although it is believed that illegal whiskey production in the region was a significant part as early as 200 years earlier.

The name Tomatin means "Hill of the juniper bush," which refers to the fact that the juniper tree does not smoke when smoked by what was once a favorite choice of illegal distillers hiding their activities.
