Description La Spinetta Lidia Chardonnay

A dry white wine from Italy that may surprise more than a few people. The flavor of yellow fruits shines through in the aroma, with sea salt, green apple and white currant noticeable. The mouthfeel remains very mineral and well-structured, which perfectly balances the intense bouquet and refreshing notes. This Italian wine is characterized by a yellow straw color with slightly green highlights. The wine has the potential to age for up to 20 years. It is stored for 12 months in French oak barrels. The ideal serving temperature oscillates between 10-13 degrees.

"La Spinetta Piemonte Chardonnay Lidia 2017 is a wine for which the fruit comes from a hillside plot in the Mango Vineyard, at an altitude of 500 meters above sea level with loose, sandy soils. Such conditions add freshness and vigor to the wine, which is clearly noticeable, even in such a hot vintage. The wine shows pronounced acidity and juiciness, followed by accents of stone fruit, tropical notes and green papaya. Oak is brilliantly integrated, adding mild flavors of spice and hazelnut. Production in 2017 is small, with only 2,500 bottles produced." - Robert Parker, Wine Advocate

La Spinetta Vineyard

La Spinetta is an Italian winemaker known for producing wines in Piedmont. It is particularly known for its Barbaresco and Barolo Campe wines, as well as an innovative blend of Nebbiolo and Barbera called Pin. These wines are known for their mature, voluptuous style and can be drunk young or aged for many years.

The estate was founded in 1977, and initially production focused on Moscato. In 1985, La Spinetta released its first red wine, Cà di Pian under the Barbera d'Asti appellation. Pin was introduced in 1989, and the first Nebbiolo from the listed winery, Barbaresco Gallina, was released in 1995.
