Wine La Spinetta Barbera d'Alba Gallina DOC 2019

An excellent red wine from northern Italy, from the famous Piedmont. The Barbera varietal - the dominant crop in the region - is responsible for the wine's character. After fermentation, the wine goes into French oak barrels, where it matures for another 12 months, finally resting for another 6 months in bottle.

Among the engaging and surprising aromas, Gallina offers a wine of floral character with a distinct balsamic note. On the palate, elegant acidity balances with a surprising structure containing firm tannins. The long and balsamic finish highlights the unique personality of this Barbera.

This is an ideal wine for pairing with Risotto, lamb, and more delicate red meat dishes.

La Spinetta Vineyard

La Spinetta is an Italian winemaker known for producing wines in Piedmont. It is particularly known for its Barbaresco and Barolo Campe wines, as well as an innovative blend of Nebbiolo and Barbera called Pin. These wines are known for their mature, voluptuous style and can be drunk young or aged for many years.

The estate was founded in 1977, and initially production focused on Moscato. In 1985, La Spinetta released its first red wine, Cà di Pian under the Barbera d'Asti appellation. Pin was introduced in 1989, and the first Nebbiolo from the listed winery, Barbaresco Gallina, was released in 1995.
