Wine Joseph Drouhin 'Clos Des Godeaux' AOC Savigny-Les-Beaune 2018

The Savigny-les-Beaune area is located in a small valley in the north of Beaune in Burgundy, not far from Clos des Lavieres Premier Cru. The wine is made entirely from the region's most important red varietal, Pinot Noir. The unique character is a combination of incredible terroir and an aging period of up to 18 months in oak barrels, 20% of which are new barrels.

In the glass it captivates with its ruby color. The bouquet of aromas is made up of pleasant notes of red fruits and flowers with a hint of spice. On the palate it is extremely elegant and subtle with accents of black currant and raspberries with a spicy finish. Excellent harmony between tannins and acidity.

This wine will go perfectly with white meat, especially dishes based on duck. It's also the perfect companion for a cheese board and mushroom risotto. The unusual terroir and barrel aging ensures that the wine can develop for a long time, so it is worth putting it in the cellar for up to 15 years.

Domaine Drouhin Vineyard

In 1880, Joseph Drouhin, a native of the Chablis region, chose the town of Beaune as the headquarters of his wine company. Over the years and with each successive generation, the number of vineyards increased. Today, the family empire has vineyards in all the key regions of Burgundy, with most of them located in the premier and grand crus areas.

The estate consists of nearly 4 hectares (10 acres) of land in the grand cru vineyards of Vaudésir, Les Clos, Les Preuses and Bougros, as well as about 7 hectares (17 acres) of Chablis Premier Cru vineyards and 68 hectares (168 acres) of Chablis land, on both sides of the Serein River. The sites consist mainly of kimmeridian soil - a mixture of limestone, clay and fossilized oyster shells.

A deep respect for nature is evident at every stage of winemaking, so all the vineyards are farmed using biological and biodynamic methods. The Joseph Drouhin style combines harmony and exceptional character, providing endless pleasure from tasting fine wines.
