Among the most popular terms we can mention Hermitage in France, Ottovianello in Italy (mainly in Puglia), œillade (as a dessert grape), in Australia the strain can be found under the names Black Prince, Blue Imperial, Oeillade and Ulliade while in the USA (mainly in the state of California) as Black Malvoise

.Characteristics of the strain CinsaultCinsault

is an early-ripening strain already at the beginning of the season and gives a very high yield. Sometimes the higher yield translates into less is concentrated wine. Therefore, from this grape variety it is easy to obtain a wine with a not very expressive taste, so it can be used as a so-called "filler". In order for the quality of the harvest to be high, the yield must be reduced. As a result, the fruit is more concentrated, with a stronger aroma and soft tannins. It is rare for Cinsault to be used for single-vineyard wines. The variety, mainly used for coupage including the famous Chateauneuf-du-Pape AOC wines

.Flavors and aromas of wines from the Cinsault grapeWines

made from the Cinsault grape are light, refreshing, with high acidity and low tannins. It's hard to define specifically the flavor of wines from this grape, due to the fact that they are blends of different grapes. However, it can contain different bouquets of aromas depending on processing methods. The aromas that appear are mainly strawberry, cherry or blueberry. In addition, we can also expect raspberry, pomegranate and even green pepper. In combination with oak barrel we can get such aromas as smoke, tar, vanilla or coconut, among others, while the wine matured in the bottle will allow us to smell leather, musk and also earthy aromas

Also a very good combination is the pairing of Cinsault wine with various tomato-based dishes.
