Whisky Tomatin French Collection Monbazillac Edition Single Malt Whisky 2008

Single Malt whisky from a limited edition released by Tomatina, a producer from the Highlands region of Scotland. This distillate is aged for 12 years and finished in sweet wine barrels from the Monbazillac appellation, located on the left side of the Dordogne River in France near the town of Bergerac. It's a whisky with a strength of 46%, produced in quantities of only 6,000 bottles.

Monbazillac Edition Single Malt hides notes of espresso, maple syrup with touches of apple pie - baked apples with cinnamon. On the palate, sweet notes of milk chocolate with nuts and honey transition into a finish full of pleasant maple syrup accents.

Tomatin Distillery

The formal Tomatin distillery was established and has been in operation since 1897, although it is believed that illegal whiskey production in the region was an important part as early as 200 years earlier.

The name Tomatin means "Hill of the juniper bush," a reference to the fact that the juniper tree does not smoke when smoked by what was once a favorite choice of illegal distillers hiding their activities.
