Whisky Tomatin French Collection Cognac Edition Single Malt Whisky 2008

A special limited edition French Collection distillate presented by Tomatina, a producer from the Highlands region of Scotland. This unusual distillate was matured for 12 years and finished in casks of the legendary cognac, a French grape distillate. It was bottled at 46% strength.

Three years spent in cognac barrels gave this whisky a unique character. The bouquet of aromas brings to mind fresh orchard fruits with a touch of lavender and heather. On the palate, juicy cranberries are broken by the freshness of citrus zest and a hint of rose water. The finish is a sensation full of accents of black tea, pears and spices.

Tomatin Distillery

The formal Tomatin distillery was established and has been in operation since 1897, although it is believed that illegal whiskey production in the region was an important part as early as 200 years earlier.

The name Tomatin means "Hill of the juniper bush," a reference to the fact that the juniper tree does not smoke when smoked by what was once a favorite choice of illegal distillers hiding their activities.
