Wine La Rioja Alta Reserva Vina Ardanza DOCa Rioja 2016

Dry red wine from one of Europe's most famous wine regions - Rioja located in Spain. 78% of the wine is made up of the Tempranillo varietal, while the remainder is Garnacha. Tempranillo is aged for 36 months in oak barrels, while Garnacha is aged for 30 months in junior barrels.

The wine is characterized by a deep red color and a bouquet full of balsamic and spice notes. Licorice, vanilla, cinnamon dominate, with accents of cocoa, coffee and nuts, all lined with notes of red fruits. The incredible balance on the palate captivates with its harmony between freshness and maturity and elegance, offering a complex structure with expressive tannins. The long and full-bodied finish conceals a bouquet of spices, licorice and vanilla with accents of ripe fruit.

Vina Ardanza Reserva will go perfectly with grilled lamb, with game dishes and with a board of aged cheeses.

La Rioja Alta Vineyard

La Rioja Alta is one of the most important estates in the Rioja region, founded in 1890 by five Riojan and Basque families. It is particularly known for its classically styled, spiced Gran Reserva-class wines, which can age gracefully for many decades. The winery shares its name with the Rioja Alta (Upper Rioja) sub-region, where many of its vineyards are located.

The estate consists of about 400 hectares (1,000 acres) of vineyards around Rioja, planted mainly with Tempranillo, but with a wealth of other varieties, including Graciano, Garnacha and Mazuelo. The indigenous La Rioja Alta winery is located in Haro, but there is also a second location in Labastida in Rioja Alavesa, which was built in 1996. The Haro winery has a cooperage where barrels are made from American oak.
